  • In 2011, Narendra Bijarniya started working in the Central Excise and Customs Department. He served in the department till 2014.

  • In August 2023, the state government appointed Narendra Bijarniya as an officer in Nuh, Haryana, during communal violence in the city that caused seven deaths, as he had earlier worked in Nuh, Haryana, for more than 15 months.

  • Based on his experience, he was posted to maintain peace and order in Nuh and nearby areas.

  • Narendra Bijarniya came into the limelight after his name appeared with Haryana DGP Shatrujeet Kapoor in a suicide note left by late IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar, who shot himself at his home in Chandigarh on 7 October 2025.

  • In the note, Kumar accused eight senior police officers, including Bijarniya, of caste-based discrimination, mental harassment, public humiliation, and horrors.

  • On 8 October 2025, Bijarniya revealed in a media conference that the police had audio-visual evidence that led to the arrest of Sushil Kumar, who had confessed that Sushil demanded a bribe from liquor contractor Praveen Bansalon on behalf of Y Puran Kumar. Bijarniya said,

    The complainant provided audio-visual evidence which led to Sushil’s arrest. He was taken into custody for two days and confessed to demanding on behalf of Kumar. We were in the process of further investigation when we came to know about this incident (Kumar’s alleged suicide).”

  • After Kumar’s death, Narendra Bijarniya was the first officer against whom the Haryana government took action. He was transferred from Rohtak on 11 October 2025, a few days after the incident.

  • After Y. Puran Kumar’s death, his wife, Amneet Puran Kumar, an IAS officer, filed a complaint with Chandigarh Police. She named DGP Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor and Narendra Bijarniya in her complaint and asked for strict action against them.

  • In the FIR, she claimed that they put false allegations on her husband, Y. Puran Kumar, in a corruption case registered in Rohtak on 6 October 2025.

  • The FIR also included charges under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, and named many other IPS officers.

  • Kumar’s family then demanded the arrest of Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor and Narendra Bijarniya.

  • Y Puran Kumar’s suicide was linked to a case filed against his assistant and policeman Sushil Kumar, who worked with Puran Kumar as his personal security officer when Puran served as Inspector General of Rohtak, Haryana.

  • Sushil Kumar was arrested on 6 October 2025 for taking a bribe from liquor contractor Praveen Bansal, and Bijarniya was the supervising officer in this case against Sushil Kumar.

  • After posting the video, Sandeep Lathar shot himself with his service revolver in Ladhot village, Rohtak district, Haryana.

  • In his video, Sandeep Lathar praised Haryana DGP Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor and former Rohtak SP Narendra Bijarniya. He called them honest officers.

  • After Sandeep’s death, some khap leaders and community groups protested against the action taken against Bijarniya. They claimed that the action was not fair as it was done without a proper investigation.
  • They argued that Bijarniya was wrongly blamed and highlighted his record of honest and effective work.
