- He was born in Turkey but spent his early years in Germany, as his parents had moved there when Orkut was just one year old.
- It was because of spending his early years in Germany, Orkut developed a German accent.
- While in High School, he was bullied by a group of three boys. Earlier, he didn’t know the reason. Years later, he found that they bullied him because he had good grades.
- After the high school, Orkut went on to pursue his graduation in Computer Science at the Bilkent University in Ankara.
