  • Prabir gave trials at five academies in 2006 but finally got a chance in 2007 to play for Sail Academy.
  • Prabir’s football journey came to a halt when her mother fell sick due to an LPG gas cylinder leakage. He was playing for India-U19 at that time and was granted permission by the authorities to return home.
  • On 31 October 2011, Prabir debuted for the India U19s against Turkmenistan during the 2012 AFC U-19 Championship qualifiers; he helped India win the match 3-1 by scoring a goal in the 82nd minute of the match.
  • Prabir scored his first goal for Indian Arrows (formerly known as Pailan Arrows) on 23 September 2012 against Shillong Lajong at Keenan Stadium in the 2012 Indian Federation Cup; the Indian Arrows won the match 2-1.

  • On 20 January 2013, Prabir scored his first I-League goal against Shillong Lajong at the Salt Lake Stadium; he scored the match’s only goal.
  • During a match against Prayag United in 2013, Prabir fell unconscious on the ground due to heatstroke after which he was hospitalised. He faced breathing problems as the temperature was 37 degrees Celsius during the match.
  • On 29 March 2015, Prabir debuted for India U23 against Syria in the AFC U23 Championship Qualifier.
  • Prabir won the Indian Super League with Atletico de Kolkata in 2016 after he joined them on loan from Mohun Bagan in July 2016. Later, Prabir was retained by Atletico de Kolkata and was given a 3-year contract.
  • Prabir recorded the joint-highest assists by a defender with five assists to his name in the 2019-20 season. He even won the Indian Super League title with Atletico de Kolkata that season.

  • Prabir helped a young East Bengal FC fan in December 2019 by providing financial support as the patient was suffering from severe pneumonia which led to multiple organ failure.
  • Prabir joined Bengaluru FC in 2022 from ATK football club in a swap deal with Ashique Kuruniyan. He won the 2022 Durand Cup with the Bengaluru FC.
