ControversiesAllegation of Disproportionate Assets: In December 2012, Activist HC Prakash filed a private complaint with the Lokayukta against Vijayanagar MLA M Krishnappa, Krishnappa’s wife, Priyadarshini, and their sons, Priya Krishna and Pradeep. Prakash accused them of accumulating wealth far beyond their known sources of income, an astounding 10,000 per cent increase. Acting on court orders, the Lokayukta police conducted raids on the properties owned by Krishnappa's family based on the complaint. In 2014, after an extensive investigation, the Lokayukta police found that the charges lacked credibility. In fact, the assets of Krishnappa's family were found to be 31 per cent lower than their known sources of income. The police discovered that the family had acquired these properties through their real estate business, which they had been engaged in for over three decades. As a result of the investigation, the Lokayukta special court accepted the police report, known as a "B-report," on 15 November 2014, effectively closing the case due to insufficient evidence to build a valid case against them. Interestingly, the complainant, Prakash, did not attend ten consecutive hearings. According to the Lokayukta special court's order on 15 November 2014, it was revealed that the total transactions, including procurements and sales, made by Krishnappa's family from 2001 to 2011 amounted to approximately Rs 5747 crore, while the value of their movable and immovable properties was around Rs 68.53 crore. Land-Grabbing Accusations: In 2016, Hemanth Raju lodged a complaint with the special court, alleging that Priya Krishna, along with Sarva Mangala Builders and Developers, and 51 others, had unlawfully taken possession of 279 acres of land that originally belonged to the Muzrai department and was associated with the Ranganathaswamy temple in Srirangapatna. A Mysterious Woman Claiming to Be His Mother: In 2017, there were reports about a woman, approximately aged between 35-40 years, who frequently visited the West zone DCP's office and made claims that M Krishnappa was her husband and Priya Krishna was her son. She insisted that she had married Krishnappa a long time ago. The police identified her as a resident of Rajarajeshwari Nagar and revealed that she had been regularly coming to the DCP's office for the past two years, requesting them to arrange meetings with Krishnappa and Priya Krishna. During this period, she somehow obtained the contact numbers of various police officials, including M N Anucheth, the DCP (west), and would call them, sometimes late at night. Officials who interacted with her suspected that she was often in an intoxicated state and might be suffering from a mental illness. [5]The New Indian Express

Charged for Being a Member of an Unlawful Assembly: As per his election affidavit in 2023, Priya Krishna had an FIR registered against him for his involvement in an Unlawful assembly. The charges were filed under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) – 141, 143, 290, 336, and 149 – at the Sathanur Police Station in Kanakapura, Karnataka. [6]MyNeta
