  • When Purnendu Bhattacharya was around 4-5 years old, his father would hold rehearsals for theatre performances at his home, and Purnendu would watch all of the performers and memorise all of their dialogues. That is how his interest in acting grew.
  • Purnendu did not want to pursue theatre acting at his father’s cost, therefore at the age of 18, he began tutoring young children. He used to earn 50 rupees every day and after saving for a while, he began his theatre acting journey.
  • Purnendu has always acted in Bengali theatre and has never tried his hand in Hindi theatre.
  • In 2008, he weighed 92.5 kg and shed 13 kg in three months through lots of exercise and dieting.

  • In 2014, Purnendu was cast in the Hindi drama film titled ‘Children of War’, also known as ‘The Bastard Child’ which was based on the 1971 Bangladesh genocide and the Bangladesh Liberation War. He portrayed the character of Abbu in the film.
