- After turning 25 in 2024, he met Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav and convinced him to let him contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections instead of his father. Pushpendra was then given the ticket to contest the elections.
- Pushpendra defeated the BJP candidate Vinod Kumar Sonkar by a margin of 1,03,944 votes in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, which he contested from the Kaushambi constituency.
- After being elected to the 18th Lok Sabha, he became one of India’s youngest Members of Parliament and got one of the largest victory margins among the young parliamentarians.
