Some Lesser Known Facts About Ravi Sihag

• Ravi Sihag is an Indian Administration Service Officer of the 2021 batch of the Madhya Pradesh cadre. He secured 18th rank in the UPSC CSE 2021 exam on his fourth attempt. Additionally, he topped the exam among Hindi medium candidates.

• Previously, Ravi had cracked the UPSC exam twice, securing the 337th rank in 2018 and the 317th rank in 2019. In those attempts, he was allocated the Indian Defense Accounts Service (IDAS) and the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS), respectively.

•  Although Ravi cleared the civil services examination twice, he decided to reappear in the exam as he desired to become an IAS officer. However, in 2020, on his third attempt, he was unable to pass the UPSC preliminary exams. In 2021, he passed the exam with an AIR 18 on his fourth attempt and was subsequently appointed an IAS official.

• Ravi Kumar assisted his father in the fields until he completed his graduation in 2015 and before he began preparing for the UPSC.

• In the UPSC exam of 2021, the top 17 ranked candidates were from the English medium. However, Ravi Kumar Sihag, who was a Hindi medium candidate, secured the 18th rank, making him the highest-ranking candidate among all the Hindi medium students in UPSC CSE 2021. His main subjects in the UPSC examination were Political Science, Economics and English Literature and Hindi Literature was an optional subject.

• On 30 August 2023, he started training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, and during the training, he won a quiz on the ‘Constitution and Life of Dr Ambedkar’ organized on the eve of Dr Ambedkar Jayanti. He was felicitated with a prize by the Hon’ble Ram Nath Kovind and the Governor of Uttarakhand, Gurmit Singh.
