Some Lesser Known Facts About Rohit Arya

• Rohit Arya worked at RA Studio in Powai, Mumbai. He also ran a YouTube channel and considered himself a filmmaker.

• Earlier, he had received a contract for a school project connected to the education department when Deepak Kesarkar was the Education Minister.

• According to Rohit Arya, when he was not paid for the school project, he then protested several times outside the minister’s house. He claimed that he was not given his pending payment of Rs. 2 crores and that others took credit for his idea.

• In October 2025, he had been holding acting auditions for many days at RA Studio in Powai, Mumbai, which attracted many families.

• Rohit Arya then shared a video on social media in which he explained his side. He said that his demands were not about money but about moral and ethical issues. He warned officials not to provoke him.

• In the video, he said that he had taken the children hostage as part of his plan. He said,

  I am Rohit Arya, instead of attempting a suicide, I have made a plan to take some children hostage. I don’t have many demands, very simple ones that are moral and ethical. I have some questions and want to talk to some people and counter-question them but I want these answers.”

• Rohit Arya claimed in the video that he was not a terrorist and was not demanding money or making any immoral request. He only wanted to have a simple conversation. He warned that he had taken children hostage and any wrong step could make him set the place on fire.

• He said that whether he lived or died, the children would suffer because of others’ actions, not his. He added that he only wanted to talk and find a peaceful solution to the problems faced by many people. He asked the authorities not to push him into doing something harmful.

• On 30 October 2025, around 2 pm, after receiving a call at Powai police station about a hostage situation, several police teams reached the acting studio.

• Mumbai Police then said in a statement that Arya appeared to be mentally unstable. They stated that he would be questioned later to learn his motive and to confirm his mental condition.

• Initially, the police tried to talk with Rohit Arya, but he did not agree to their requests.​ When negotiations failed, police entered the studio through a bathroom to get to the children.

• Reportedly, he fired with an air gun at the police. The lead police commander then shot Arya to protect the children and end the crisis.

• Rohit Arya was hit in the chest, and later, he was taken to the hospital but died from his bullet injury.

• According to the police, he owned a gun, some chemicals, and a lighter during the hostage incident at RA Studio in Powai, Mumbai.

• The police rescued all 19 hostages, including 17 children and two adults, safely from the studio.

• The children, aged around 10 to 15 years, had come to the studio for acting auditions. He had attracted the children on the pretext of auditions for a web series before taking them hostage.
