  • Salhoutuonuo Kruse is an Indian social activist, advocate, and NDPP politician. In 2023, she and Hekani Jakhalu made headlines after they contested and won the 2023 Nagaland Assembly elections, becoming the first women to enter the legislative assembly in Nagaland.
  • From 2011 to 2014, Kruse served as the chairman of a women’s rights group named Angamimiapfu Mechu Krotho (now known as Angami Women Organization). She has also been affiliated with several Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs) in Nagaland and has actively voiced her opinion in favour of equal rights for women.
  • After her husband died in June 2021, Salhoutuonuo Kruse joined the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), a regional political party in Nagaland.
