- Salil Arora was born in a traditional Punjabi trader family, as his father was a trader.
- He once visited a mall in 2014, where he played cricket in the nets. He later became interested in cricket and decided to become a professional cricketer.
- He first started playing at Gandhi Ground and later started playing for his school.
- Arora scored 654 runs in the 2018 edition of the Cooch Behar Trophy.
- In 2019, he was selected for the India Under-19 team for the Asia Cup.
- He made his first-class debut for Punjab in the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy Group C match against Madhya Pradesh at Mullanpur on 18 October 2024. Arora came in to bat at number seven during his debut first-class innings under pressure conditions.
- He scored 101 runs and shared an unbroken 100-run partnership with Sukhwinder Singh, who scored 64 runs.
