- Sangeeth Sivan belonged to Pongumoodu in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
- He developed an interest in photography when he was very young.
- He soon started working as a photographer at Sivan’s Studio, which was set up by his father in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, in 1959.

- Sangeeth was very good at sports, especially cricket and hockey, during his school and college days. He was even the captain of his school’s cricket team.
- Sangeeth and Priyadarshan, a director and screenwriter, had a strong bond since childhood. Sangeeth was the first to take a photo of Priyadarshan’s daughter. They often used to watch plays at Prithvi Theatre in Mumbai.
- In 1976, he started making advertisements and documentaries with his father and helped him with direction.
- He later attended the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune and established ‘Sangeeth Sivan Productions.’
- His work as a director and writer in the Malayalam film ‘Vyooham’ (1990) was appreciated by the audience.
- Sangeeth worked as a director in many Malayalam films like ‘Daddy’ (1992), ‘Nirnayam’ (1995), and ‘Idiots’ (2012).
- He also directed some Hindi-language films including ‘Kyaa Kool Hain Hum’ (2005), ‘Apna Sapna Money Money’ (2006), and ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’ (2013); he wrote the story of the film ‘Apna Sapna Money Money.’
