• Shakhawat Ali Nobel is a Bangladeshi businessman. He was convicted of murdering his wife Raima Islam Shimu in January 2022.

• In January 2022, his wife, Raima Islam Shimu, did not return home even after her shooting schedule was completed. Raima’s brother, Shahidul Islam Khokon, tried to contact her, but he was unable to reach her. Khokon then filed a missing complaint in the nearby police station.

• Then the local police started a search operation for Raima, and on 17 January 2022, the search team found a sack near the Hazratpur Bridge in Keraniganj, Bangladesh. On opening the sack, they found Raima’a body cut into pieces, and the team immediately sent the body to Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital (SSMCH), Bangladesh, for post-mortem.

• While talking to the reporters, in the initial investigation, the local police said,
  

  Injury marks found on Raima’s body led to believe that she might have been murdered by criminals on Sunday, following which her body was dumped. Her body was then taken away in a car. We confiscated the car. The body has been sent to the Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital (SSMCH) for autopsy, and an investigation is underway.”

• The local police then continued the investigation to find out the murderers of Raima. All the evidence collected by the police was hinting towards the involvement of Raima’s husband, Shakhawat Ali Nobel, in the murder.

• Later, Shakhawat along with the driver and four other people was arrested by the ‘Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), an elite anti-crime and anti-terrorism unit of Bangladesh. In further interrogation, Ali confessed that he murdered his wife.

• While talking to the reporters, Raima’s brother said,
  

  Nobel is a drug addict. He often argued with my sister. I have seen blood in Nobel’s car. He was not at home from 8 am to 10 am on Monday, I assumed that he discarded the body during that time.”

• On Raima’s demise, Fatima Nisha (Raima’s sister) said,
  

  I am at the police station now; Preparations are underway to file a case. After the case, I will go to Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital to take my sister’s body. We have not been able to take a decision yet regarding the murder convicted by my sister’s husband or not. But we are talking.”
