Some Lesser Known Facts About Shivani Pruthvi
- Shivani Pruthvi is an Indian racer, rally driver, and doctor. She became popular in the Indian racing circuit after winning several national Grand Prix races and rallies.
- When she was 5 years old, she learnt roller skating and participated in many state-level tournaments. She used to play basketball, tennis, and table tennis during her school and college days. She had a liking for bikes and cars since her childhood.
- In 2018, when she was studying in the second year of MBBS, she started racing under the mentorship of her father. She could not play any sports during the preparation of her semester exams due to which she felt exhausted. Once the exams were finished, she approached her father to learn racing, and he started teaching her on the same day. She started training at her factory’s compound where many cement water pipes were kept in open.
- She took part in her first race, Autocross in Kochi in 2018. She later became a member of Ahura Racing, India’s first all-women racing team and took part in Volkswagen Motorsport India’s Ameo Cup.
- Shivani Pruthvi raced in her first rally, the South India Rally of 2019 INRC (Indian National Rally Championship) held in Chennai. She later raced in the 2019 Indian National Autocross Championship, Mysuru Dasara Gravel Fest, and Asia Auto Gymkhana Championship.
- In 2019, she took part in races with her mother, Deepti Pruthvi, as her navigator; their first rally was the South Indian Rally 2019. In 2018 and 2019, she also won Times Women’s Drive with her mother, for two consecutive years.
