- The Yoga teacher Sivananda’s parents lived in extreme poverty and they lived as beggars for their daily living.
- At age six, he lost his parents and sister within a short period of one month after which he was under the care of Guru Omkarananda Goswami in Nabadwip, West Bengal.
- He completed his education under Guru Omkarananda and mastered meditation and yoga from his guru.
