Some Lesser Known Facts About Subhadeep Ghosh

• Subhadeep Ghosh began his domestic cricket career with Assam, and later represented Railways in Indian domestic cricket.

• Between 1994-1995 and 2004-2005 season, he played 17 First-Class and 17 Lost A matches in domestic cricket.

• Although, Subhadeep never represented India as a player in international cricket, he earned a reputation as a disciplined domestic cricketer.

• In 2005, after retiring from competitive cricket, he chose coaching instead of commentary and focused on improving players’ fielding skills.

• As a coach, he started his career as a fielding coach with the National Cricket Academy (now BCCI Centre of Excellence).

• In 2018, Subhadeep joined the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) as its fielding coach under head coach, Ricky Ponting.

• Later, he also worked with Kolkata Knight Riders.

• In 2020, Subhadeep served as the fielding coach of the India Women’s Team T20 World Cup in Australia.

• From 2022 to 2025, he worked as the firelding coach of India A and India Under-19 teams.

• In 2023, Ghosh was the part of India’s support staff during the Asian Games, where the Indian men’s cricket team won the gold medal.

• In February 2026, Subhadeep Ghosh achieved one of the biggest milestones of his coaching career when he served as the fielding coach of India’s Under-19 team, which later won the ICC Under-19 World Cup.

• In July 2026, before his permanent position, he travelled with the Indian Senior men’s team during the Zimbabwe Twenty20 International (T20I) tour as apart of tbe support staff from the BCCI Centre of Excellence.

• Later on 29 July 2026, the BCCI appointed Subhadeep Ghosh as the fielding coach of the Indian men’s senior cricket team under the head coach, Gautam Gambhir. He replaced former fielding coach, T. Dilip after his contract was not renewed by the BCCI.

• The board selected Ghosh because of his long experience with the BCCI, India A, India Under-19, India Women and IPL teams, making him one of the most experienced fielding coaches in the Indian Cricket System.

• Subhadeep Ghosh’s first assignment as an India’s Senior Men fielding coach is scheduled to begin in August 2026 during the Two-Test Tour of Sri Lanka.
