Some Lesser Known Facts About Suyash Jadhav
- Since a young age, Suyash Jadhav aspired to become a swimmer. He was inspired by his father who was a state swimming champion at the time.
- He began practising swimming at the age of 3.
- When Suyash turned 12, he attended his cousin’s wedding where he met with an electrocuting accident. After the accident, Suyash’s arms were amputated.
- After three years of the incident, during a family pilgrimage trip, Suyash began swimming again. Later, he again began practising swimming.
- In 2010, he moved to Pune and began practising at the Balewadi stadium in Pune.
- In 2015, he participated in the World Abilitysport Games, a parasports multi-sport event for athletes who use wheelchairs or are amputees, in Russia. There, he won many Medals.
- During the tournament, he became the first Indian Para swimmer to win the ‘A’ qualifying mark for the 2016 Paralympics in Rio and Tokyo Olympics 2020.
- Suyash Jadhav has participated and won many medals in various world championships including the 2018 Asian Para Games in Jakarta, the 2016 German Swimming Championships, and the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
- In 2017, he participated in the State Meet Championship organised by the Maharashtra Athletics Association.
- In 2017, he appeared in the talk show Umeed India with Virendra Sehwag. In the show, he talked about his journey as a para-athlete.
- In 2019, he participated in The World Abilitysport Games in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. During the tournament, he won 3 Gold, 2 Silver, and 1 Bronze medal.
- In 2020, he walked the ramp at a fashion show in Hyderabad to support Para athletes.
- In December 2020, he appeared in an episode of Josh Talks Marathi.
- He has also participated in various National swimming championships including the XVI National Para Swimming Championship, the Mumbai State Paralympic Swimming Championship, and the 20th National Para Swimming Championship.
