Some Lesser Known Facts About Tayyab Tahir
- Tayyab, in an interview, said that he was introduced to cricket through a tape ball. He further said,
I belong to a village named Thoon near Sarai Alamgir and used to play tape-ball cricket there. There used to be no professional hard-ball cricket in that area, so everyone played with tape-ball. I was fond of football before taking up tape-ball cricket, and I was really good at it. There was, however, no scope in football.
- Tayyab’s uncle, who lives in England, advised his father to join a cricket academy so he could pursue the sport professionally. When Tayyab was 14 years old, his father took him to Lahore, where he joined the P&T Gymkhana cricket club.

- On 26 January 2015, Tayyab made his List-A debut for Lahore Eagles against Multan Tigers in the Haier President’s Silver Cup One Day; he scored a half-century in the match.
- On 13 September 2015, Tayyab made his T20 debut for Lahore Region Whites against Faisalabad Region in the Cool and Cool Presents Haier Mobile T-20 Cup.
- Tayyab made his first-class debut on 26 October 2015 for Lahore Blues against Sui Sthn Gas in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy; he scored 87 runs in the first innings.
- Tayyab scored his maiden first-class century in October 2021 in the second round of the 2021–22 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy against Balochistan at Multan Cricket Stadium; he remained not out in the match with a score of 181 runs.
- Tayyab came under the spotlight after he scored a century against India A team in the final match of the 2023 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup and guided Pakistan to victory; he scored 108 runs off 71 balls.
