As a child, Vantika Agrawal played many sports such as cricket, tennis, karate, skating, and badminton, but she liked chess the most.

She started playing chess when she was seven and a half years old. She enjoyed playing chess at school and with her brother, who taught her the basic chess moves.

In 2011, Vantika Agrawal participated in the U-9 girls Asian Schools Chess Championship.
