Some Lesser Known Facts About Vatsa Ashish
- Vatsa Ashish is an Indian student who hit the headlines in September 2022 when he secured All India second rank in the NEET, the highly competitive nationwide medical entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), with 99.99th percentile. The NEET 2022 topper was Tanishka who hails from Rajasthan, India. The exam was conducted on 17 July 2022, and the result was released on 8 September 2022 in which 9,93,069 students qualified for the medical entrance exam.
- Soon after Vatsa Ashish attained AIR 2 in NEET 2022, he thanked and expressed his gratitude to the Aakash BYJU coaching institute for his performance. Vatsa attained 715 marks out of 720. In an interview with a media house, Vatsa Ashish stated that he chose to study medicine as “he finds being a doctor a “noble profession” and has always loved the subjects too.”
- On 8 September 2022, in a media conversation, Vatsa Ashish disclosed that he would opt to become a surgeon after clearing MBBS, but he might choose civil services later in the future. He said,
If I get the opportunities, I might take up civil services, later in life. I have not decided yet.”
He added in the same discussion that he was preparing for the exam for the past two and half years. He said that he studied hard in his senior secondary classes. He said,
In class 11, I did not study much for NEET. It was only in class 12 that I gave a lot of time for the exam preparation. Apart from tuition, I used to self-study for 6 to 7 hours each day.”
- Vatsa Ashish Batra secured the same 715 marks as the topper Tanishka and the other two, Hrishikesh Nagbhushan Gangule and Rucha Pawashe from Karnataka, scored in NEET 2022. However, the National Testing Agency (NTA) followed a tie-breaker rulebook to declare the toppers. An NTA agency official explained the tie-breaker rule in a media conversation. He said,
Candidates who scored identical marks are accorded ranks as per the tie-breaker rule where the candidate with higher marks in biology is ranked above the rest. In case of identical marks in biology, the same rule is applied for chemistry followed by physics. Even after this, if the scores remain identical, the elder candidate gets the higher rank.”
