In 2017, he participated in senior nationals in Greco-Roman Style in 74 kg weight category in Uttar Pradesh and ranked 4th.

On 8 August 2017, Vishal visited the wrestling association office at the Jaipal Singh Stadium in Ranchi, Jharkhand, for some work around 2 pm when a live wire hanging loose in the flooded washroom dealt the fatal jolt. He was rushed to a nearby hospital from the stadium where he was declared dead.
