- In 2017, Vivek Bhagat appeared for the UPSC Civil Services Examination.
- His roll number was 756167. He was recommended under the Scheduled Caste category.
- He then cleared the examination and secured 967th rank. He received 801 marks in the written examination and 143 marks in the personality test, receiving a total of 944 marks.
- Vivek Bhagat was not selected as an IPS officer. He became part of the police service for the Union Territories through DANIPS.
- After entering DANIPS, he joined the Delhi Police system and began working in different police assignments.
- In February 2021, he was given charge as ACP of Samaypur Badli, Delhi.
- That same year, he served as the Commander of the Delhi Police marching contingent.
