- At the age of 12, Yamuna Rani moved from Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh to Kollam, Kerala with her family.
- While staying in Arunachal Pradesh, her father worked as a PWD engineer. Later, he went to Saudi Arabia and worked there for five years.
- In an interview, she revealed that after her father returned to India, he started his own business, but it failed. After this, she had to work as an actress to contribute to her family income.
- During her college days, she worked as a data entry operator at a DTP centre of her father’s friend.
- She started her acting career at the age of 19 with a Malayalam album song for Onam which was aired on Doordarshan Malayalam.
- The popular dramatist and theatre director Kavalam Narayana Panicker noticed her performance in her debut album song and later decided to cast her in a lead role in his short film ‘Punarjani.’
