Chidambaram's position as the Finance Minister in 2006 and were direct beneficiaries of the 2G scam. They made provisions for the Aircel-Maxis deal to happen in exchange for shares and bribes. Chidambaram was accused of delaying the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Proposal by the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) by seven months until his son received the kickbacks from the Aircel-Maxis deal. • INX MEDIA CASE January 2008- The Income Tax department flagged Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) of 305 Crores INR to the INX Media Pvt Ltd. (then owned by Peter Mukerjea and Indrani Mukerjea) by 3 Mauritius based companies. The case was transferred to the Enforcement Directorate (ED). 2010- The ED registered a case of Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) violations against INX Media. 2016- When the ED was investigating Karti Chidambaram in a separate case, they found documents linked to the INX Media case on his CA's computer, which showed payments made by INX Media to Karti's company. Chidambaram. 11 October 2018- The ED captured properties worth 54 Crores INR in India, UK, and Spain in connection with the INX Media money laundering case. 11 July 2019- Indrani Mukerjea became an approver in the INX Media case and accepted the conditions by the ED to provide all the information related to the case.
