• Feroz Khan was a veteran Indian actor, director, and producer who earned laurels for his performances in Hindi films besides he was considered one of the most popular style icons in Bollywood throughout his career.

• He was the eldest son of Sadiq Ali Khan Tanoli who belonged to Ghazni province of Afghanistan, and her mother, Fatima, was an Iranian. 

• In childhood, he was very mischievous and had to switch between schools because of being frequently expelled from schools. In an interview, he said,
  

  It is said that I was an extremely naughty child and much to my mother’s dismay, my father whipped me every single day. Later, when I was fast asleep at night, he would steal into my bedroom and kiss me on the forehead. My mother revealed this to me when I was a little older.”

  As long as I can remember, I’ve had a passion for horses. I loved watching films, particularly the westerns and cowboy films, and fantasized about becoming an actor. Of course, I never shared my secret with anyone because ours was a traditional family and cinema was not a part of Baba’s world. I knew he would have never approved of it because he had dreams of me becoming a barrister and I dare not let him down.”

• Feroz Khan was inspired by Ashok Kumar to make his career in acting after watching Ashok Kumar’s film Kismet (1943).

• During his early days of struggle in Mumbai, he was involved in betting to earn some money by playing Billiards.

• In 1962, he featured opposite Simi Garewal in an English language film titled Tarzan Goes to India.

• Initially, he started his career in the film industry by playing supporting roles one of them was Oonche log in1965 alongside Raaj Kumar and Ashok Kumar. 

• Feroz Khan and his younger brother Sanjay Khan shared the screen in many films such as Upaasna (1971), Mela (1971), and Nagin (1976).

• Although Feroz Khan had become an accomplished actor soon after his debut in Didi (1959), he mostly appeared in supporting roles in the majority of films throughout his career, and he even played a supporting role to his younger brother Sanjay Khan (who entered the film industry much after him). This was an important reason why he turned to film direction.

• Reportedly, Feroz Khan was offered a role in Prakash Mehra’s Hera Pheri (1976) alongside Amitabh Bachchan; however, it could not be materialized owing to a fact that it would require him to work on Sunday’s, and he never liked working on Sunday’s.

• “Dharmatma” (1975) which was directed and produced by Feroz Khan, was the first Hindi film to be shot in Afghanistan and was inspired by Hollywood classic “The Godfather” (1972).

• Feroz Khan wanted to remake his classic hit Qurbani (1980) with actor Saif Ali Khan and his son Fardeen Khan as the main protagonist and himself playing the role of an inspector, which was played by his friend Amjad Khan in the movie, but due to his ill health, the remake could not happen.
