  • Her son Amartya was diagnosed with Ulcerative colitis (UC) at the age of ten which is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) characterized by inflammation and ulcers in the large intestine. He received treatment at Westmead Children’s Public Hospital in Sydney, which included injections every two months.

  • When his condition did not improve over the years, in 2019, she filed a medical negligence complaint in hopes of admitting him to a private hospital; however, the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) filed a counter case (numbered 2021/00304854-001) against her and her husband, accusing them of not properly caring for their children, which they claimed led to the health issue.

  • In August 2023, she travelled from Australia to India and arrived in Belagavi city, located in Karnataka, India. She sent her belongings via courier to her parent’s residence in Dharwad. On 20 August 2023, her body was discovered in the Naviluteertha dam within the backwaters of the Malaprabha River near Saundatti, a town in Belagavi.
  • Her relatives informed the authorities that they had received a note in which she expressed her intent to end her life at Gokak Falls. In the note, she accused Australian authorities and neighbours in Sydney of harassing her, which ultimately led her to commit suicide.
