  • Miraz used to play cricket secretly because his father did not like him playing cricket. Once he even got beaten by his father because of it but his mother supported him at that time.
  • Miraz started playing cricket when he was just 8. He went to Kashipur Cricket Academy and there he was selected for the Under 14 national cricket tournament.
  • During his early days, Miraz used to copy Ramesh Powar’s bowling action.
  • Miraz won a prize money of Tk 25,000 in the U-14 tournament which made his father believe that he could further pursue a career in cricket.

  • On 16 February 2015, Miraz made his first-class debut against Rajshahi Division cricket team; he scored 51 runs and took 4 wickets in the match.
  • Miraz made his T20 debut on 9 November 2016 for Rajshahi Royals in the 2016–17 Bangladesh Premier League.
  • Before coming into the senior national team, Miraz came to the limelight when he was handed over the captaincy of Bangladesh’s U19 team and was named the player of the tournament in the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He played six matches in the tournament scoring 242 runs and taking 12 wickets.

  • Against England in 2016, Miraz became the youngest Bangladeshi player to take a five-wicket haul on debut in Test cricket.
  • At 19, Miraz helped Bangladesh register their first-ever Test victory against England after he took 19 wickets in the test series. He got 7 wickets in the first test match in Chittagong and took 12 wickets in the second match in Mirpur.
  • Following his brilliant performance against England in the test series, Miraz was rewarded with a house in his hometown Khulna by the then-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He also received the central contract from the Bangladesh Cricket Board after the series ended.
  • Miraz took his first ODI wicket against Sri Lanka in his debut ODI match; he got 2 wickets for 43 runs in 10 overs in the match.
  • Miraz was Bangladesh’s most economical bowler in the 2019 ICC World Cup with 6 wickets at an economy rate of 5.08.
  • On 4 February 2021, Miraz scored his maiden Test century against West Indies; he scored 103 runs.
  • Miraz scored his maiden One Day International century in the second match of the bilateral series against India in 2022. He won the Player of the series award and played a crucial role in Bangladesh’s series win over India.

  • Miraz ended as the highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh across all formats in 2022. In December 2022, he was named in Wisden’s Men’s ODI Team Of The Year for 2022.
  • In October 2023, Miraz took his 100th ODI wicket against Pakistan in the 2023 ICC World Cup.
  • Miraz played a crucial role in Bangladesh’s first-ever test victory against Pakistan in August 2024. He took 5 wickets in the match and scored 77 runs off 179 balls in the first innings.
