- Bhavya Shah suffered from retinal detachment from age 5 which led to a complete loss of vision in both eyes by the age of 12.
- He faced several challenges in his regular studies. Still, he continued his studies in the mainstream school with rehabilitation and assistive training from Xavier’s Resource Centre for the Visually Challenged (XRCVC) in Mumbai.
- He was ranked 13th in the World Robotics Olympiad (a global robotics competition) 2015.
- In 2015, he secured 41st place in the National Financial Literacy Assessment Test conducted by the National Centre for Financial Education.
- Since 2016, he has shared his life experiences, creative compositions, and technical insights through his WordPress blog, Hiking Across Horizons.
- In 2016, he won gold, silver, and bronze medals in various categories at the Global IT Challenge (GITC) for Youth With Disabilities, a project by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
