• After graduating from University College Thiruvananthapuram, Mahesh Narayanan joined the M.G.R. Government Film and Television Training Institute in Tamil Nadu and started his career as an advertisement editor.

• He then started editing documentaries and short films.

• In 2007, Mahesh Narayanan entered the Malayalam film industry with a Malayalam film titled Rathri Mazha, which won five Kerala State Film Awards.

• He then went on to work as an editor for several films like Beautiful (2011), Traffic (2011), Kanyaka Talkies (2013), Viswaroopam (2013), and Ennu Ninte Moideen (2015).
