Some Lesser Known Facts About Sivasakthi Narayanan
- Sivasakthi was in 7th grade when he became interested in football and was selected for the trials held in his hometown.
- Sivasakti once told in an interview that it was his elder brother, Sivasubramanian, who first got selected for the Noble Football Academy, run by former India international Raman Vijayan, in their village. He only went there with his family to drop his brother at the academy but was attached to him and did not want to leave him. He further said,
I started crying and was adamant about not leaving my brother. I calmed down only after Raman Vijayan’s brother intervened and told my parents they could leave me at the hostel… they promised to take care of my studies, food… everything. Eventually, my parents agreed.”
- Sivasakthi’s youth career began when an NFA team picked him up during trials in Karaikudi. Raman Vijan Soccer School scouted him and he was the top scorer in the 2018-19 season of Elite League with 22 goals for the club.
- Sivasakthi emerged as the top goal-scorer for Bengaluru FC’s B team in the 2020-21 season of the Bangalore Super Division league; he scored 15 goals for the club, including two hat-tricks.
- Sivasakthi made his senior team debut for the Bengaluru FC on 21 August 2021 against Bashundhara Kings at the group stage of the 2021 AFC Cup. He came as a substitute and replaced Suresh Singh in the game.
- On 24 August 2021, Sivasakthi scored his first goal for the Bengaluru FC against Maziya S&RC ten minutes after coming as a substitute.
