- His father was a wrestler at a young age. So, Raja was inspired by his father to pursue wrestling. The father-son duo later started going together to local wrestling tournaments (dangals).
- He failed twice in 10th class and once in 12th standard. Hence, his father allowed him not to pursue any further studies and to become a wrestler.
- In 2014, he started running to become fit.
- He has appeared in the Indian Army hiring process 11 times and cleared the physical all 11 times, but failed to clear the written exam even once.
- While preparing for the Indian Army, he used to complete a 1600-meter run in 4 minutes and 20 seconds.
- He wanted to join the Indian Army so that he could get the facilities to become a sportsperson and win medals for India.
- He once said in an interview that he wanted to inspire the youth of his local area to run, wrestle, and pay attention to their physical health.
- He wants to participate in the 100-meter running events and win Olympic medals for the country.
- Whenever he is free or not running, he works out in his home gym and takes care of his cows and buffaloes.

- An athlete from Bihar named Neeraj Kumar claimed that Raja Yadav was not a good runner and challenged him to a 100-meter sprint race. He said if Raja defeated him, he would give him Rs 1 lakh cash.
- Yadav declined the challenge saying that if Kumar had so much money, he should help the needy and the poor.
- His paternal uncle was in jail and was released in December 2024.
