  • At the age of 18, Spencer broke the Arizona high school passing record, which previously stood at 10,489. He threw for 11,083 yards in his four years, with 116 passing touchdowns and rushed for 1,040 yards with 14 rushing touchdowns.
  • Spencer appeared in a Netflix sports documentary series called QB1: Beyond the Lights (2019) when he was in his final season at Pinnacle High School.  Later, he was handed over with a suspension for violating the code of conduct and also became ineligible to play for the rest of the season due to cheating.

  • Spencer enrolled at the Oklahoma Sooners football team on 12 June 2019. He appeared in three games in the 2019 season, and thus was able to redshirt his freshman year of college.
  • On 12 September 2020, Spencer made his starting debut for Oklahoma against Missouri State. By 26 September, he tied the Oklahoma record for most touchdown passes with eight, previously set by Sam Bradford in 2008.
