  • On 10 July 2025, he came into the news after shots were fired outside Indian comedian Kapil Sharma’s newly opened café in Surrey, Canada.

  • Reportedly, the attackers fired multiple bullets at the café building a few days after its opening. A viral video showed a man sitting in a car firing bullets from the window.

  • After the firing, Harjeet Singh Laddi claimed responsibility for the attack.

  • According to the police, no one was hurt in the shooting.

  • Reportedly, in one episode of The Kapil Sharma Show, a character made jokes about the clothes and behaviour of Nihang Sikhs, a group of traditional Sikh warriors.

  • These jokes were seen as insulting Sikh religious values and hurt the feelings of the Nihang community.
