• Devan is an renowned Indian film and television actor and politician. He is known for portraying villain roles in South Indian Film industry.

• He was born and raised in in Thrissur, Kerala.

• Devan completed his schooling at Government Model School in Thissur. He later earned a B.Sc. degree from St. Thomas College, Thrissur.

• During his college days, he was a member of the Kerala Students Union (KSU); however at that time his parents were the supporter of Indian National Congress.

• Devan’s father wanted him to become a police officer, but Devan wanted to join the Army. After graduation, he tried to get into the National Defence Academy but was not selected.

• He then moved to Chennai in search of a job and later completed an MBA.

• Before entering the film industry, Devan was also involved in different business ventures.

• His film career started not as an actor but as a producer. He produced the Malayalam filn Vellam, based on a novel by N.N. Pisharody. However, due to financial crisis, the production stopped temporarily.

• To raise money to complete his film, Devan started acting, and made his acting debut in Ashatapathi (1983). Later he took up several projects.

• In 1984, the shooting of Vellam eventually started. The film released in 1985; however, the film did not do well at the box office.

• In 1987, Devan first played a villain role in a Hindi film, New Delhi. fter this he was often cast as a villain in Malayalam films.

• In 2004, Devan became active in politics and founded the Kerala People’s Party. In the same year, he contested the Wadakkanchery Assembly by-elections as an independent candidate; however, he lost the seat.

• In the 2006 Kerala Assembly election, he contested from Thiruvananthapuram West as an independent candidate, but was again defeated.

• In 2020, Devan formed a new political party named the Nava Kerala People’s Party.

• In 2021, his party merged with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of Union Home Minister, Amit Shah.

• In 2023, he was appointed as BJP State Vice President in Kerala.

• After about five years with BJP, he left BJP and on 16 August 2026, he announced his resignation as state vice-president.

• After his resignation, in an interview, he said that he had differences with the Kerala BJP leaders and did not feel he was getting enough opportunity to work within the party

• After leaving the BJP, Devan joined actor-turned Vijay‘s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
