- At a very young age, Abhay began playing squash at the Indian Squash and Triathlon Academy in Chennai.
- He participated in his first South Asian Games in 2019 in Nepal, where he won a bronze medal in the men’s singles category.
- He competed for the Indian Men’s Squash Team which won a silver medal at the South Asian Games in 2019.
- He made his Challenger Tour debut in May 2022 in Lorient, France, and won the PSA World Tour for the first time.
- In an interview, he said that his performance at the 2022 CWG selection trials, where he played four matches and won all 4 of them, was one of his best performances ever.
- He made his Commonwealth Games debut at the 2022 Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, where he took part in the men’s singles and men’s doubles events.
