- Abhishek Gupta grew up in a middle-class family in New Delhi.
- After completing his formal education, Abhishek began working as an analyst at Watson Wyatt in 2004. He worked there for around 2 years.
- In March 2006, he joined Evalueserve as a business analyst. He resigned from his position in the firm in 2007.
- He then worked in the corporate solutions department of the firm Jones Lang LaSalle for around 1 and a half years.
- In February 2009, he was appointed as the CEO of the coaching institute Rau’s IAS Study Circle.
- On 27 July 2024, three students named Tania Soni, Shreya Yadav, and Nevin Dalwin died in his coaching centre Rau’s IAS Study Circle in Delhi after the basement of the centre was flooded by rainwater.
- According to some reports, the basement where the students were trapped had a biometric door that got jammed due to a short circuit caused by rainwater.
