- Terry Jenner recognized Rashid’s cricketing talent when he was 14 years old.
- Rashid’s family is from Pakistan. His family migrated to England in 1967 from Mirpur, Azad Kashmir, Pakistan.
- In 2005, during his early days in English cricket, Rashid took 6 wickets for Yorkshire’s Academy at 17.
- In 2006, Rashid debuted in the County Cricket against Warwickshire at North Marine Road, Scarborough, replacing the Australian batsman Darren Lehmann who was injured; he played a major role in Yorkshire’s victory in the match by taking 6 wickets for 67 runs.
