Some Lesser Known Facts About Akash Kumar Choudhary

On 21 February 2019, Choudhary made his Twenty20 debut for Meghalaya in the 2018–19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

On 24 September 2019, in the 2019–20 Vijay Hazare Trophy, he made his List A debut for Meghalaya.

On 9 December 2019, Akash Choudhary made his first-class debut for Meghalaya in the 2019–20 Ranji Trophy.

In 2020, Akash Kumar Choudhary continued to bowl regularly for Meghalaya and gained experience as a left-arm fast-medium bowler.

In 2023, Akash delivered one of his best of 4/41 in List A format in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Before his breakthrough innings in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26, Akash was primarily a bowling all-rounder.

Although Choudhary’s batting record was average, with around 500 runs in over 30 first-class matches at an average of about 14.

In November 2025, during a Ranji Trophy Plate Group match between Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh in Surat, Choudhary scored the fastest half-century in the history of first-class cricket, with just 11 balls.

He came to bat at number eight, and in just eight deliveries, he smashed eight consecutive sixes, six of them in a single over, which set a new world record for the fastest fifty in first-class cricket.

He surpassed cricket legends like Garry Sobers (1968) and Ravi Shastri (1984), who had also hit six sixes in an over.

Akash Kumar Choudhary also served as the vice captain of the Meghalaya team for the 2025-2026 Ranji Trophy.
