- Allison Holker is an American dancer, choreographer, actress, and TV personality who is known for appearing in the reality TV dance competition series ‘So You Think You Can’ and ‘Dance Dancing with the Stars.’
- During her childhood in Minnesota, she used to ice skate in a homemade rink created by her father every winter in the backyard of her house. While recalling the memory in an interview, she said,
I learned very young how to ice skate. I even took a few figure skating classes. I played hockey a lot with my brothers in our backyard.”
- She moved to Orem in Utah when she was 9. There, she started dancing when she enrolled in The Dance Club, a prestigious dance school in Orem. At 11, she was trained in various dance forms like ballet, tap dance, jazz, contemporary dance, and hip-hop. She received training from various renowned dancers like Travis Wall, Mia Michaels, Tyce Diorio, Kenny Ortega, and Louis Van Amstel.
- She decided to pursue a career in dancing at 11 when she watched her elder sister, Jessica Holker, who is also a dancer, perform with Mia Michael’s dance group called Mia Michaels Raw. Apparently, Allison went to see her sister’s dress rehearsal before the group traveled overseas. Awestruck by the athletic and powerful bodies of the female dancers, Allison determined to become a dancer.
