  • He is the son of first-generation Indian immigrants to the USA.
  • His father is an engineer, and his mother is a chemist, so he developed a keen interest in science and technology from a very young age.
  • In 2003, after completing his studies, Amit started his professional career at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) as a software engineer and served as an instructor for the space station robotics system responsible for training multiple space shuttle and station crews.
  • In December 2010, after completing training for the robotics flight control position, Kshatriya became a robotic engineer and served as the lead robotics officer for SpaceX’s Dragon demonstration mission.
  • As a Robotic Engineer, he was responsible for planning and executing the first robotic capture of a commercial vehicle at the International Space Station (ISS).

  • In 2023, Amit became the deputy associate administrator for the Moon to Mars program in ESDMD, where he was the main person in charge of managing risks and making sure all parts of the program worked together smoothly.
  • On 3 September 2025, Amit Kshatriya was named the associate administrator of NASA, serving as the agency’s highest-ranking civil servant and senior advisor to NASA Administrator Sean Duffy.
