Some Lesser Known Facts About Amritpal Singh Mehron

• Amritpal Singh Mehron was born in a half-Muslim family.

• He also used to run a cement dealership shop in Dalla village.

• Mehron later formed a group named Quam De Rakhe.

• In the early 2010s, he went to Malaysia, where he underwent an exploitative situation after which he took shelter in a gurudwara.

• When he returned to India, he became more religious and became a Nihang.

• He often made headlines for his involvement in social causes such as helping poor people and fighting for safety of women, particularly rape victims.

• Police filed a criminal case against him in December 2020 when he broke the statues of many folk singers at Heritage Street near the Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib) in Amritsar.

• Another criminal case was filed against him in 2021 when he threatened a producer in Barnala, who was accused of making vulgar songs.

• In the 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly elections, he contested elections from the Tarn Taran seat as a Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar)(Simranjit Singh Mann).

• He became notorious after he admitted to murdering the social media influencer Kamal Kaur Bhabhi, aka Kanchan Tiwari, in June 2025.

• According to the police, Mehron travelled from Moga to Ludhiana in their Scorpio with his accomplices, Jaspreet Singh and Nimratjeet Singh. There, they convinced Kaur to accompany them to Bathinda on the pretext of car promotions and repairing her Hyundai Eon car.

• They stayed with her until midnight on the night of 9 June 2025 while her car was being repaired.

• Around 2 am on 10 June, he strangled Kaur with the help of his accomplices. Before killing her, he also snatched her phone and forced her to reveal the passwords.

• Around 4-5 am on the morning of 10 June, Jaspreet Singh parked her car near Adesh Medical University, Bathinda. He initially left the cloth used for strangulation in the car, but later took it away from the car as per Mehron’s instruction.

• Police found the body on the night of 11 June 2025 near Adesh University in Bathinda.

• On 14 June 2025, a look-out circular (LOC) was also issued for Mehron.

• On 16 June 2025, Punjab Police claimed that Mehron fled to the UAE on the same day Kaur was murdered.

• According to Bathinda senior superintendent of police (SSP) Amneet Kondal, he boarded the flight from Amritsar International Airport at 9:15 am on 10 June.

• The police officials also found in their investigation that two more people, including Ranjit Singh of Tarn Taran, also knew about the murder beforehand.

• Her visceral sample was also sent to verify any harassment or rape attempt.

• After the murder, Indian singer Mika Singh criticised Mehron and his accomplices, calling Kaur’s murder a shameful act.
