In 2004, he refused to play and sat at Jantar Mantar in Delhi in a protest against the Indian government. He claimed that he was not given Arjuna Award in a conspiracy. Then sports minister Sunil Dutt himself went to meet him and assured him that proper action will be taken. He was awarded Arjuna Award the next year, in 2005.

Allegations of divorce by fraud

In 2007, a Muzaffarnagar court issued a notice to him on the complaint of his wife, Geetanjali, who claimed that he had got divorce on 16 October 2006 by fraud without her consent. She alleged that she knew nothing about it and was living with him at the time. She also complained that he married another woman. The court asked him to file his reply, failing which he could be suspended. [1]The Times of India

Acquitted in Vicky Tyagi murder case

In February 2015, Sagar Malik shot dead a gangster named Vicky Tyagi in Muzaffarnagar court. Tyagi's family alleged that Anuj Chaudhary was complicit with the murderer due to their personal enmity. A departmental enquiry was done, but he was later acquitted from the case.

Verbal Spat with SP Leader Azam Khan

In May 2023, SP Leader Azam Khan was going to the Samajwadi Party (SP) office in Rampur when Anuj Chaudhary stopped his convoy and began searching the vehicles. Khan got down from his vehicle and confronted him. Khan reminded him that SP government in Uttar Pradesh recruited him in police services. Chaudhary replied that he was a wrestler and also won Arjuna Award. So, they didn't do any favor. Khan angrily said that he also remembers Chaudhary's deeds.

Threat calls by a YouTuber

In December 2024, he received a call from a YouTuber named Mashkoor Raza Dada called him and wanted to take interview from him, a few days after the Sambhal violence. Dada even told him that he was close to Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath and DGP Prashant Kumar. Later, he leaked the audio on social media that went viral. UP Police arrested Dada later after which he apologised for his mistake and said he wanted to get famous.

Comments about Holi

In 2025, he said before the Holi that Jumah (Friday prayer) comes 52 days in a year so the Muslims should not disturb Hindus celebrating Holi. He further said that those who have any problem with colors should do namaz at their homes or not feel bad if anyone applies colours. It created a political storm in political circles and many Islamic groups. Some politicians claimed that he should be suspended from his police job. Others said that he should join politics if he wanted to make such statements. SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav claimed that if they come into power, such people will be jailed. [2]Jagran Uttar pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Anuj Chaudhary didn't say anything wrong. A Muslin man named Aabid Shah shared a social media post that Sambhal DSP should be arrested after which the local police arrested Shah. His father requested the UP Government to give additional security to him, fearing for his life.
