- Her husband, G.R. Gopinath, founded Air Deccan, an Indian regional airline which famously offered flight tickets for only 1 rupee. She worked as the chief caterer in Air Deccan.

- In 1995, she started ‘Bun World,’ a popular bakery in Bangalore. The bakery is known for its delicacies, including sandwiches, brownies, biscuits and cakes.

- She was inspired by her uncle, Rangaraju, who used to run a small bakery.
