- Blessy was interested in acting since his teenage years and used to take part in stage plays during his school and college days.
- After completing his graduation, he tried to find work in the Mollywood (Malayalam film industry); however, he was unable to find any project of his satisfaction.
- On the Christmas of 1985, he decided that if he were unable to find work by the Christmas of 1986, he would commit suicide.
- He later worked as an assistant director with several renowned Malayali directors including P. Padmarajan, Lohithadas, and Jayaraj.
- Initially, he did not intend to become a scriptwriter, but when he felt dissatisfied with the scripts written by other writers, he started writing scripts for his films.
- When he narrated the story of his first film Kaazhcha to Mammootty, Mammootty encouraged him to write the story himself. He later started writing scripts for most of his films.
- He later directed many Malayalam films such as Calcutta News (2008) and Bhramaram (2009).
- Blessy gained popularity for the realism in his films and perfection in his direction. Some of his fans also call him ‘the director who makes viewers cry while watching his films.’
- In 2019, he registered his name in the Guinness Book of World Records for writing and directing the longest documentary film ‘100 Years of Chrysostom’ (2018), with a runtime of 48 hours and 10 minutes. The film is based on the life of Philipose Mar Chrysostom Mar Thoma. [1]Guinness World Records
- Blessy gave the superhit Malayalam film, Aadujeevitham, in 2024. The film is an adaptation of the Malayalam novel “Goat Days” (2008) by Benyamin, which is based on the life of Najeeb Muhammad, a Malayali immigrant who was forced to work as a goat herder in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
