He claimed that Saibaba's idol should not be worshipped as other Gods and Godesses as he was a human being. This statement hurt the sentiments of Saibaba devotees. In 2016, devotees protested against Chaganti Koteswara Rao for making such remarks. Later, he clarified his remark and the protest was withdrawn by the devotees.
