Controversy	Accused of Trafficking Drugs In April 2023, while Chrisann was at Sharjah International Airport, UAE, drugs were recovered from her following which the UAE police arrested her. According to the sources, she was associated with an international drug racket which was started by the Indian absconding gangster Ravi Rattesar. Chrisann was then taken to Sharjah Central Jail and the Indian Consulate was informed about her arrest. In an interview, when her family members were asked about the arrest, her brother said that Chrisann was not a drug peddler but a victim of drug trafficking. When her mother was asked about the arrest, she said that a few days ago, she got a message from a man named Ravi, who wanted to cast Chrisann in an international web series. In an interview, while talking about it, her mother said, "After a series of meetings, an audition was locked for Chrisann in Dubai and the man took care of all the arrangements. Before Chrisann took her flight on April 1, she was called by the accused to meet at a coffee shop 10 minutes away from the Mumbai international airport. He handed over a trophy to her, perhaps mentioning that the said trophy is part of the script for the audition and will be required for the audition. Accordingly, she carried the trophy with her.” Her mother further shared that while Chrisann was at Sharjah Airport, she tried to call Ravi, but he did not attend her call. Chrisann’s brother then shared that they had hired a local lawyer in Dubai, who charged around Rs 13 lakh fees. It’s been more than 13 days and we haven’t been able to sleep, eat or rest worried sick about her while the fraudsters are roaming free.” On 27 April 2023, she was released from a jail in Sharjah. Reportedly, the actress was framed in the alleged drugs-smuggling case. A baker named Anthony Paul and his associate Rajesh Babhote alias Ravi are reportedly the main accused who trapped Chrisann in the drug-smuggling case; they were remanded to police custody by a metropolitan magistrate court in Mumbai on 27 April 2023. Anthony Paul and Rajesh Babhote alias Ravi actor allegedly framed Chrisann Pereira and four others into becoming drug mules. According to the police, to settle personal scores, Anthony Paul is accused of planting and procuring marijuana and opium in parcels given to the five people, including the actor. Chrisann was allegedly sent to Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE) for an audition by Anthony Paul, and she was given a trophy filled with ganja (marijuana); they told her that the trophy was part of the audition prop. While citing the reason why Paul frmaed the actor, the police said that Chrisann's mother Premila's pet dog had barked at and tried to bite Anthony Paul during Covid-19 lockdown, so Paul got angry and picked up a chair to beat the dog, which Premila did not like and insulted him in front of others.
