Daniel initially wanted to become the rugby player like his father but later, he chose cricket as his career.

He even represented his school ‘St Gregory’s College’ in ‘2000 Football National Championship.’

At the age of 20, he joined the Australian Cricket Academy.

He later started playing for the ‘New South Wales’ cricket team for the 2006-2007 season and made his T20 debut in 2006 against ‘Queensland’ at Sydney, Australia.

When he didn’t get the chance to play for the ‘New South Wales in the 2007-2008 season, he then joined the ‘South Australia’ cricket team and made his first-class debut in 2008 against Victoria at Melbourne, Australia.
