• Darshan Magdum hails from Ichalkaranji, Maharashtra.

• He started his musical journey since his childhood. In 2025, in an interview, he shared,

I’ve been recording song covers since my childhood actually, but I never posted. It was five years back that I posted my first song with my brother, and it’s still there. It was the ‘Hasi,’ song cover from the film Hamari Adhuri Kahani, so after that I started posting recorded covers- not to get reach and all, but just for my memories. I love keeping them in one place.”

• In August 2021, he started uploading karaoke-style covers of popular English songs on his Instagram handle. However, initially, he received hate comments. He shared,

A lot of big artists are appreciating my work, so why should I care about people who are sitting at home and commenting. It has never affected me.”

• In 2022, Darshan began releasing cover songs on Spotify.

• In April 2023, the cover of artist, The Weeknd’s song Blinding Light became his first major viral video, that also introduced him to much wider audience.

• Later his covers of songs such as Justin Bieber‘s Peaches and FIFTY FIFTY’s Cupid also went viral. Thousands of meme were made about them

• Even after becoming a meme, he did not change his singing style and continued uploading covers in the same simple karaoke format.

• In 2024, his covers of songs Die With A Smile and APT were shared on Instagram by Bruno Mars and Rosé, that gave him international recognition.

• In October 2025, in an interview he shared that he had always enjoyed singing and started by making cover songs because they were the easiest way to share his passion for music. He added that his dream collaboration would be with Bruno Mars.

• In the early 2026, Darshan Magdum joined the internet-based music group, Boy Throb. However, he remained in India while his three bandmates were based in the United States because he did not yet have a U.S. work visa.

• The band’s immigration lawyer advised that Darshan would need to qualify for an O-1 visa, a U.S. visa given to people with exceptional talents in fields like music and the arts.

• To strengthen his O-1 visa application, the band launched a public social media campaign, where they asked people to follow the band and grow its international recognition.

• Soon, Darshan’s visa application became a widely discussed topic on social media.

• During the immigration process, the band reportedly received a Request for Evidence (RFE) from U.S. immigration and asked for additional proofs that Boy Throb was a legitimate musical group.

• The group submitted additional document of the band’s performances, media coverages, online popularity, and Darshan’s achievements as an internet singer.
