- Deepak Niwas Hooda, an Indian kabaddi player, rose to fame as the captain of the Indian National Kabaddi Team.
- Deepak lost his mother at the age of 4 and later his father who died when he was in his 12th grade. This led him to take a break from his education and work to support the financial needs of his family. He began teaching at the very institute where he had been a student.
- Parallel to his teaching role, he pursued kabaddi with fervor, often going to a nearby village for practice. His dedication helped him improve his skills considerably.
- In 2014, he was part of Haryana’s victory at the Senior National tournament in Patna, where they won a gold medal. He also played a key role in Rajasthan’s kabaddi team, helping them win a bronze medal at the 67th Senior National Kabaddi Championship.
- During the 2014 Pro Kabaddi League’s inaugural auction, Telugu Titans bought him in the auction for ₹12.6 lakhs, the second-highest bid of the season. By 2016, he moved to the Puneri Paltan for two seasons and even became the captain of the team in the fifth season.
- In the sixth season, he was signed by the Jaipur Pink Panthers for a whopping Rs 1.15 crore and later played with the Bengal Warriors in season 9.
