Controversies | Termination of BBL Contract In December 2022, his contract with the Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Sydney Thunders terminated the contract of Fazalhaq Farooqi. The matter was not reported to the police but the code of conduct commissioner at Cricket Australia ruled that he broke the code of conduct of Cricket Australia. 'Mankading' Shadab Khan On 24 August 2023, on the first ball while bowling the last over of the innings against Pakistan, Farooqi ran out the Pakistani batsman Shadab Khan in the 'mankad' style at the non-striker's end. Pakistan later won the match but many Pakistani players including Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi got angry on Khan's dismissal which was visible when players of both teams were shaking hands. Many Pakistani fans later criticised Farooqi on social media. |
