• Floriane Bascou gained recognition as a French model after being titled Miss Martinique 2021 and securing the First Runner-up spot at Miss France 2022. Furthermore, she had the honor of representing France in the Miss Universe 2022 pageant.

• She won the crown of Miss Martinique on October 24, 2021, and then won against eight other participants in Fort-de-France, taking over the reign from Sephorah Azur.

• After securing the title of Miss Martinique, she participated in the Miss France 2022 pageant on December 11, 2021, at the Zénith de Caen in Normandy, where she made it to the Top 15, then the Top 5, and finally achieved the rank of 1st runner-up.

• When Diane Leyre, Miss France 2022, was unable to attend the global event, the Miss France committee designated Floriane Bascou as France’s delegate to the Miss Universe 2022 competition on October 11, 2022. Taking place on January 14, 2023, in New Orleans, USA. Her national costume, a creation of KenVee Clothing, paid homage to Bastille Day, a French national festival. She was, however, eliminated.

• Floriane Bascou is the sister of the Olympic medalist, Dimitri Bascou. Dimitri, her older brother, specializes in the 110-meter hurdles and has achieved significant success in the sport, including a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and a European championship title.

• From an early age, Floriane was determined to become a dentist, a career aspiration influenced by her own experience of wearing braces at 12 years old. She remembers the difficulty and the self-consciousness she felt when she first began wearing them. This personal journey ignited her passion for studying dentistry, with the goal of helping children regain their confidence through a beautiful smile and the correction of misaligned teeth.

• During an interview, Floriane disclosed that she has always been self-conscious about her outward-facing belly button, which made her uncomfortable wearing beach wear that exposed her midriff.

• Floriane made history by being the first Miss Martinique to represent France at the Miss Universe competition.

• To prepare for the Miss Universe competition, Floriane temporarily discontinued her academic pursuits. Her preparation regimen included intensive training such as catwalk practice, alongside personal development and English language courses, which she found essential for engaging with the American press.

• Floriane has always been fascinated by the medical field, with a deep-seated desire to help others and improve their lives. Although her home has always been Martinique, she’s had the privilege of traveling and experiencing different cultures with her family, which she thoroughly enjoys.

• Sports run in her family. The model turns to sports as a stress reliever, finding that the mental strength developed through athletic training aids her in handling pressures, similar to those faced by many in beauty pageants. Her brother, who is also into sports, is a pillar of support for her, offering motivation, nutritional guidance, and exercise feedback.

• Her daily routine includes various forms of exercise such as gym workouts, swimming, ballet, and basketball, ensuring she remains active for at least two hours a day.

• Floriane’s parents were athletes during their youth, passing on their passion for the same to their children.

• In homage to previous Miss Universe winners Christiane Martel and Iris Mittenaere, Floriane wore a festive costume at the Miss Universe contest that captured the essence of France’s National Day with feathers colored like the French flag and evoking the imagery of fireworks. Her attire also celebrated her Martinican roots, and her headdress featured a representation of the Eiffel Tower, symbolizing her connection to France.
